This presentation is a detailed overview of the Revolutionary War fortifications that defended the Hudson River as described in period correspondence and illustrated by contemporary maps and drawings. The program refutes many popularly held misconceptions and credits the many overlooked historical figures that brought about the Key to America.
Paul Ackermann is a life-long historic preservationist, having served with the Department of the Interior and the US Military Academy at West Point from which he retired after 35 years of Federal service. Paul is the Past Commander of the Brigade of the American Revolution and currently is the Commander of the Sons of the American Legion in Cooperstown, NY. Paul and his wife, Andrea, now live in Cherry Valley, NY where he runs Ackermann Arms, an antique firearms and custom muzzleloader shop, and he travels throughout the Northeast to gun shows, re-enactments, and black powder shoots.
