Don't miss the premiere of "Alexander Hamilton's Birth date, Early Biography, and More," presented by The Fort Plain Museum as part of #CelebrateHAMILTON 2020. In this talk, historian and Hamilton biographer Michael E. Newton will talk about his latest book "Discovering Hamilton" and present several of the major discoveries he has made recently about Alexander Hamilton’s early life and his family, friends, and colleagues.

Among the discoveries is explosive new evidence about Alexander Hamilton’s birth year, which has been in debate since the early 20th century, his places of residence, religion, parents, newly-discovered relatives, and more; including legal testimonies by Alexander Hamilton, his aunt, and others. In this presentation, Newton will also touch on other subjects, such as James McHenry’s role in Hamilton’s wedding and a reexamination of the participation of Alexander Hamilton in the Newburgh Conspiracy.

Michael E. Newton is a historian specializing in the American Revolution and Founding Era. Newton is the author of "The Path to Tyranny: A History of Free Society's Descent into Tyranny, "as well as "Angry Mobs and Founding Fathers: The Fight for Control of the American Revolution," "Alexander Hamilton: The Formative Years," and "Discovering Hamilton." Newton is a National Hamilton Scholar.
